My Home Life London

My Home Life (MHL) in partnership with Dementia UK has commenced an eighteen month package of practice development, leadership support and training to help improve quality of life in care homes in partner authorities within the Greater London region, and will create a unique learning community across London for participating authorities to work together.

The programme has received funding from the City Bridge Trust to support the roll-out of the work.  This package of support has emerged from work undertaken by the MHL team at City University working within 4 local authority pilot areas (Derbyshire, Wiltshire, Essex and Bristol) and ongoing work in 8 other local authorities (Brighton, Dorset, Essex Plus, Kent, Leeds, Medway, Plymouth, York).

We are currently working in the following partner authorities:

London Borough of Newham; London Borough of Tower Hamlets; London Borough of Redbridge; London Borough of Barking and Dagenham; London Borough of Enfield; London Borough of Barnet.

We are confident that the high quality programme brings together a range of approaches in delivering better quality of life to care homes.

Managers who have completed the project told us:

‘It’s like turning on a light bulb, suddenly things become clear’

‘We’ve all got the same kind of problems cropping up, it’s great to know you’re not alone and when we talk through the problems the solutions become clearer’.

‘It’s been really helpful for my personal development as well as beneficial to the home….it’s giving me the confidence to stand up for doing things right, it’s very motivating’

The programme has been very positively received by the sector. It is uniquely supported by all the national provider representative organisations for care homes across the UK.
